SPIDERS
Spider Facts:
Fall is peak season for many spider species.
- One female spider can live 3 years and they produce 6-21 Silken egg sacs, each containing 185-464 eggs during their lifetime.
- Something all 45,000 species of spiders have in common is that they all spin silk.
- One spider can produce up to seven different types, each used for a different purpose such as spinning webs or capturing prey.
- Jumping spiders can jump up to 50x their own length.
Generally speaking, the most common types of poisonous spiders you’ll encounter are the brown recluse and black widow. The black widow is clearly recognizable from the large red hourglass-shaped marking visible on their abdomen. The brown recluse can be slightly more difficult to identify, but it’s certainly possible to do. Look for violin-shaped marking on top of the thorax, as this is their most distinguishing feature. If you encounter a spider in your home that you believe is poisonous, exercise extreme caution. Consider contacting Absolute Pest Control for expert assistance.
