WHAT IS A BED BUG?

Bed bugs are rising in number, making a strong comeback after nearly 50 years of limited activity in the United States. Adult bed bugs have a distinct reddish-brown color and have flat, oval-shaped bodies about 1/4 inch in length. In a protected area, an adult female will lay up to five eggs in one day. The eggs are small, approximately 1mm in size and are whitish in color, making them nearly invisible to the untrained eye. Bed bug eggs are slightly sticky when first laid, which allows them to adhere to surfaces to remain safe until hatching. Once hatched, bed bug nymphs are no larger than a pinhead, closely resembling the adults, but smaller and lighter in color until they reach maturity. The nymphs mature rapidly, shedding their exoskeleton as they grow larger after each feeding. Bed bugs feed exclusively on blood, preferring human blood, but will also feed on other warm-blooded animals if necessary.

Pesticides in the form of liquids and dust are applied to the cracks and crevices within the affected rooms in the home. In rooms with high levels of bed bug activity, your technician will treat the entire bed and frame, sofas, recliners, dressers, nightstands, and all other bed bug harborages. Dust will be injected into wall voids and electrical outlets.

  First time using this company. Was very happy with their service. Jeff showed up on time, was friendly, professional and explained what was going to happen regarding our yellow jacket nest which I appreciated.  Update: 2 yrs later and we have renewed once again. Dillon showed up on time, explained everything in detail and treated our property along with ground bees. Great company!
Another update: Thank you Bob for coming out so quickly to take care of the (to me, terrifying) wolf spiders that appeared to be invading our property and house!   Absolute Pest is the Best! Called at 8:oo and by 11 they were here to take care of a yellow jacket infestation in my garage soffet. Not only was the problem effectively addressed but clear explanation was given on how to prevent them from building another nest in that area. Thanks so much Brian! Great job today!

  Called to compare to Terminix for mice because of the super high reviews and came away sort of stunned. Terminix in our old home sealed the house and set traps (glue and snap) and over time we had no mice. When I called Absolute Pest Control they said they don't do traps because they need to be checked too often. They only do poison through bait stations. We have a small child and I asked what if they pick up the bait and move it and the response was wishy washy. Seemed like they just hadn't had a problem with it (rather than a reasonable explanation for why it's not dangerous). I recall they said something like mice don't typically put this type of poison/bait in their cheeks and transport it, not very reassuring. They also made it almost seem like it was not worth trying to seal the house. That since mice can get in very small holes they will never be kept out. So in short for mice they do poison only and do not expect sealing the house to work. Very different than  our experience with Terminix with a previous problem with mice. We will do traps (no poison) and the exclusion plan again on this home with Terminix for sure. Hopefully with Terminix we can keep up with it and expect not to have mice in our home in the future.

I think that perhaps the possibility of poison inside the home being dangerous for my small child (3 month old who I'm sure will be crawling before I know it) wasn't explained very well. There is an important difference between mice not typically carrying something in their cheeks and it not being possible. I was told that the poisoned bait you provide was not typically something they carried in their cheeks. I do strongly believe the word used by your "office girl" was "typically".

I would have happily paid extra for snap traps rather than poison for peace of mind. This option was not provided to me. In fact, it was explained as something you don't do because it is too labor intensive.

While I understand that some houses present significant challenges, at times even insurmountable challenges, to being fully sealed, I came away with the impression that no house COULD be sealed. AND that the reason for continuous poison bait traps by your company was to thin the population in perpetuity in a way that is not labor intensive since the house would never be sealed anyway.

Believe me I was shocked. Perhaps this was an unfortunate misrepresentation of your services that was provided to me. Unfortunately, as I have direct comparison to interactions with Terminix and expectations of certain services when it comes to mouse control I felt it necessary to disclose this in a review. I was particularly disappointed due to your stellar ratings history.

  Absolute came to the rescue for us after we discovered 100s of wasps decided to make a home in a wall of our home. After their treatment, the wasps were gone within 24 hours.   Brian was very knowledgeable about the situation of my wasp infestation. He suited up and went into the danger zone while I watched behind the safety of my window. He allowed me take a picture of his gear. I called a few other companies, but this agency was the only one that actually answered their. My appointment was made immediately and Brian showed up promptly. I will definitely start a seasonal pest treatment plan.

  We were having a huge problem with yellow jackets in the bushes near the front of our house, making it impossible to mow and maintain the yard. After emptying about 5 or 6 cans of yellow jacket and wasp spray with seemingly no effect, I knew it was time to call a professional. Brian came out and immediately recognized the yellow jackets' behavior and was able to come up with a plan to deter them from the bushes. After he was finished with the treatment there were ZERO yellow jackets left and I was finally able to trim the bushes and mow the yard. It's day 2 since the treatment and there are still no yellow jackets in sight. Brian was also kind enough to knock down a few wasps nests from our house, deck, and playset. Overall an awesome experience and I highly recommend Absolute Pest Control and Brian!
